This seems to be one of those rules that everyone only discovers at the counter. If a carrier pushed back because your ARC was close to expiring, what actually got you through it? Different carrier, prepaid first, renewal receipt, shorter contract, branch luck, anything real-world.

What seemed to help most was changing the ask. If you walk in asking for the nicest long contract with a device subsidy, staff get cautious fast when the ARC is near expiry. If you ask for the most basic no-frills plan, short commitment, or even an MVNO option to bridge the renewal gap, some Korea branches suddenly become much more flexible.
